Sustainable Procurement Policy: SDG12 Responsible Production and Consumption
Nature has provided us with an abundance of natural resources. As we continue consuming resources, we must learn how to reverse the harm that we have inflicted.
As the Sumitomo Corporation Group company, Presperse Corporation is committed to and promotes environmental conservation, biodiversity, responsible use of energy and water, responsible management of chemicals and waste as well as sustainable procurement practices within its supply chain.
We are dedicated to sustainable development and corporate social and environmental responsibility (CSR). This approach supports Presperse in making decisions and actions to control the impact of our activities on the environment and ensure their sustainability economically, environmentally, and socially.
Presperse Corporation is committed to developing partnerships with suppliers that meet the highest environmental and international standards. To promote sustainable procurement, in accordance with SDG 12, Responsible Production and Consumption, Presperse joined EcoVadis in 2021 and Sedex in 2024, as a requesting company. We are aiming to create a sustainable society by working together with our suppliers, business partners and contractors through these organizations.
Presperse’s supply chain on-boarding program includes Corporate Social Responsibility and Code of Conduct survey. The survey consists of 4 sections, Labor and Human Rights, Environment, Business Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. All suppliers are required to commit to Presperse’s corporation foundation and principles.
Our suppliers and business partners are expected to:
- Respect human rights and not be complicit in human rights abuses. Any violations and complaints are to be reported via EthicsPoint Hotline (www.scamericas.ethicspoint.com or by calling 1-888-279-1912)
- Prevent forced labor, child labor and the payment of unfairly low wages.
- Not engage in discriminatory employment practices.
- Respect the rights of employees to associate freely in order to ensure open and fair negotiations between labor and management.
- Provide employees with safe and healthy work environments.
- Protect the global environment by respecting nature and acting on climate change.
- Ensure the quality and safety of products based on environmentally friendly technologies.
- Ensure fair business transactions, abide by all applicable laws, rules and regulations, and prevent extortion, bribery and all other forms of corrupt business practices.
- Ensure appropriate information security.
- Cooperate with members of local host communities and contribute to sustainable regional development.
- Disclose information regarding the above in a manner both timely and appropriate.
We are committed to identifying and addressing high risks of human rights violations and environmental damage including full mica traceability for critical supply chain and 100% RSPO certified palm oil containing products by end of 2025. We support full products traceability by participating in TRASCE, a Traceability Alliance for Sustainable Cosmetics. We are joining founding members of TRASCE in their “commitment to working collectively to map our supply chain across the entire value chain.”
We encourage our suppliers of mica to participate in and support collaborations such as Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI). RMI is a coalition of action that establishes a fair, responsible, and sustainable mica supply chain that is free of child labor and provides responsible working conditions. We also encourage our partners to join SEDEX, a global organization that helps businesses like ours manage and improve their social and environmental performance. By leveraging SEDEX’s comprehensive platform, we gain valuable insights into our supply chain, enabling us to identify, assess, and manage risks effectively. Our SEDEX membership ensures we uphold the highest standards of ethical sourcing, sustainability, and compliance, helping us build a more socially and environmentally responsible future for our company and partners.
Presperse is committed to promoting sustainable supply chain that work towards reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In order to support this commitment, Presperse has obtained the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC PLUS). This certification supports sustainable, traceable, deforestation-free and climate friendly supply chains.
